There are so many moments in life when it is easy to feel lost. Whether it is the state of affairs in the world, stress from family, school, or any other situation you face as you grow older, these moments tend to feel all consuming. Because of these moments it can be hard to appreciate life, but as of recently I’ve found if you take a step back and appreciate those little moments it can help those all consuming worries and fears melt away, at least for a little while.

Something I have learned to appreciate more is my relationship with my sisters particularly my two younger sisters. Something simple about the relationship I’ve learned to acknowledge is the fact that they just make me laugh. We all have those rare people in our lives who never fail to make us laugh or feel better and my sisters are definitely those types of people. They really are more than sisters to me, they are two of my best friends. The moments I am with them make me realize that although things seem bleak at times I will always have two people that make my life better.

I have also been able to appreciate those moments in incredibly small things as well. The other day I was outside eating dinner while the sun was setting. In that moment it made me realize there are going to be times when we are incredibly happy and others times when we are not. It is what we choose to do in those moments that matter. We can either look to the future and choose to make changes to what we do not like or stay in that feeling. Of course, this is easier said than done. But I truly do believe we as individuals can make a change if we try. For me, it is about staying in the moment and not worrying about so many long-term scenarios that may not even happen.

If you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or fed-up with particular circumstances try to look at the moments in your life that ground you even if they are stupidly simple.
